N3985Y
is a 210D model, the first of the 285 hp Continental IO-520 powered
Centurions. Earlier models used the smaller Contiental IO-470
rated at 260 hp. The 470 was a durable engine, but only last for
two years of production in the new wide-body Centurion fuselage.
Cessna also introduced the child seat option in the Centurion with the
D model.
This D model Centurion has spent the majority of its life in Colorado
and the Chicago Area. Western Skyways overhauled the engine,
installing a VAR crank in 2004, so this engine has not been sitting
around rotting like so many planes that you see these days. A
modernized IFR package with modified instrument layout with modern
gyros, Garmin 420 GPS/Map/Comm, and JPI graphic engine monitor make
this plane a joy to fly cross country.
