1980 Piper Turbo Saratoga
PA32-301T (Fixed Gear)

The 1980 Saratoga was the first of the Cherokee Six line to bear the Saratoga name, and the first model year after abandonment of the widely unpopular T-Tail design.  The Turbo fixed gear Saratoga is certificated up to 20,000 feet, with a book high cruise of 165 knots and a 20,000 foot service ceiling.   The Cherokee Six line is famous for its comfortable, wide 6 seat cabin and ability to carry just about anything that will fit in its aft baggage area and/or handy front baggage compartment.  The Saratoga incorporated a tapered wing design as opposed to the early Cherokee Six version of the "Hershey Bar" wing.

N8173P was the the 15th production Turbo Saratoga to come off the line, and was issued a standard airworthiness certificate on March 6 1980 after 2.22 hours of test flight.   This plane was purchased by the current owner from the original owner, who based the plane in Billings Montana.  Paint and interior are all original and in decent condition.  The current owner is a business based near Cody Wyoming, and the plane splits its time between Wyoming and Northeast Colorado.

This plane has great high-altitude cross-country capabilities, and is well equipped for the mission with a GNS-530 WAAS and a Century IIIB Autopilot with approach coupling and altitude hold.
