N6759R
is one of a rare breed, serial number 159 of 197
total strutted Turbo 210's built. The
T210F airframe is neary identical to the 206 airframe of that
vintage. The higher lift airfoil gives this plane excellent short
field
performance. The 1967 and later model 210's had the semi-laminar
flow
airfoil that optimized speed at the expense of lift
production. The F-model Turbo 210 feels like it jumps off the
ground compared to later models.
N6759R
started its life in in the Los Angeles area, sold originally at Gunnell Aviation of
Santa Monica. Looking internally at the airframe, it is apparent
this plane was based well inland at the Whiteman
and San Fernando airports near the original owner in La
Crescenta CA. This plane appears to have spent little time
outside during its time in Los Angeles area, with the glass showing
minimal sun exposure for a plane of this vintage and the interior of
the plane having low levels of surface corrosion.
The
second owner was the ranch manager for Ralph Lauren's ranch near
Telluride. The second owner purchased the plane in 1993, and it
was based in Western Colorado. We purchased the plane from the
third owner, a retired airline captain based near Grand Junction
Colorado who had purchased the plane in the mid to late 1990's.
Larson Aircraft purchased two planes from this owner at the same time,
and we have found both to be very well maintained.
The
engine was replaced in the late 1990's with a Continental Factory
Remanufactured Engine, which has the heavy case upgrade and VAR
Crankshaft. The
propeller was overhauled at that time. The exhaust system was
recently replaced with a Knisley exhaust system. This is
one of the nicest T210F's left in the fleet.
The
Turbo 210F is well known for its high altitude skills (it set the
single engine altitude record in 1966 at 39,334 feet) as well as for
comfort and load carrying. Expect 13.2 gph down low at 60% power
and about 150-155 knots, with speeds increasing to 160 to 165 ktas at
altitude.
