1966 Cessna 182J Skylane
By
the time Cessna rolled out the 1964 G-model the
Skylane had been widened and restyled to the same
basic fuselage that is still in production
today. The 1966 J model has the new pointy
prop spinner, a factory 1-piece windshield, the
generator replaced with an alternator and redesigned
yokes / pedals.
N3332F has spent its life hangared in Colorado with
all her owners. This is the type of plane that
was hard to find 30 years ago when I started dealing
airplanes. With only 1019 hours total time, no
damage history, complete logs and near perfect sheet
metal with regard to corrosion, this plane is at
least a 1 in 5000 plane for this vintage Cessna.
The engine on this plane has a great history, with
70 and better compressions and not a single cylinder
off the engine as best I can tell. The propeller has
been updated with a new McCauley with 475 since new.
This vintage Skylane is a hard plane to beat with
its wide cabin, long-range fuel, and great gross
weight / useful load combination. Later model
Skylanes have a heavier gross weight with the same
horsepower making them sluggish climbers compared to
these mid-1960's planes. The late production
Skylanes from the 1997+ production can't match the
1111 lb useful load of N3332F, even with a much
higher gross weight.
This plane is based based at the Longmont Airport
(KLMO) and is available for inspection by
appointment.
