1999 Cessna Skylane 182S -
SOLD
The Skylane was
re-introduced after a 10 year hiatus with the 1997 Skylane 182S.
The early production Skyhawks and Skylanes had some small bugs
associated with re-starting the production line. A few
significant changes were introduced with the Skylane 182S - most
significant was the introduction of the fuel injected Lycoming IO-540
engine to the Skylane. Previously, the factory turbo-charged
models had installed a carbureted version of the Lycoming
540, with great success. The fuel injection, in this day and age
of $5.00 and up fuel, represents a huge savings in fuel burn. This engine is very highly derated to
its rating of 235 hp in the Skylane - a characteristic that has helped
the 540 Lycomings go right through the recommended 2000 hour TBO with
frequent excursions up to 3000 hours and higher.
N2368G is the 541st of these new production Skylanes,
first flown in June 1999 - late enough to be free of some of the early
re-production glitches that are inevitable on a restart.
Fortunately, N2368G has dodged the crankshaft woes that so many new
production Skylanes are plagued with, and still has the original
crankshaft which is compliant with the many revisions of the infamous
crankshaft AD. This case has never been split since its original
assembly!
Upgrades to the panel
include a Sandel Electronic HSI, King KLN94 IFR Approach GPS with color
moving map, and a JPI EDM-700 GEM with FS-450 Fuel Management
System. Any upgrades to avionics can be packaged into the sale of
this aircraft - please don't hesistate to contact us with you wish list.
This Skylane has always been hangared in dry-country, and has never
been a trainer or on a rental line. This plane is based in the
Tulsa Oklahoma area, where it can
be viewed by appointment. Transition training and delivery
services are available.
