1997 Cessna Skylane 182S - SOLD
The Skylane was
re-introduced after a 10 year hiatus with the 1997 Skylane 182S.
A few
significant changes were introduced with the Skylane 182S - most
significant was the introduction of the fuel injected Lycoming IO-540
engine to the Skylane. In the 1980's, the factory turbo-charged
models had installed a carbureted version of the Lycoming
540, with great success. Even with a Turbo, the Lycoming was
lasting longer than the normally aspirated O-470 Continental. The
fuel injection, in this day and age
of $4.00 and up fuel, represents a huge savings in fuel burn.
The "parallel valve" Lycoming engine is very highly derated to
its rating of 235 hp in the Skylane - a characteristic that has helped
these engines go right through the recommended 2000 hour TBO with
frequent excursions up to 3000 hours and higher. The parallel
valve Lycoming IO-540 is the same family of engine that is used by the
Piper Comanche 260 (260 hp) and Piper Aztecs (250 hp and Turbo) with
great longevity.
N116VX is the 42nd of the new production Skylane S
models. Crankshaft AD compiance was completed in 2009 - a
major overhaul was done at the point where the 12 year requirement of
the Crankshaft AD had expired.
Upgrades to the panel
include a Garmin 430 and a BF Goodrich TAS-497 active traffic
system. Any upgrades to avionics can be packaged into the sale of
